Annual Masonic Picnic 16 July 2023 - the Best Ever!
Under warm & sunny skies, the Annual Masonic Family Picnic at Heritage Acres in Saanichton enjoyed the strongest attendance in years! The months of meticulous planning also created the most successful event ever. With so many concurrent activities, there was something for everyone! The cookhouse was the central focus, where the amazing volunteer crew rustled-up dogs, burgers, ice cream, and refreshments all day for the crowd of attendees. Members of the Victoria Shrine Club Clowns were on-site to delight all the children with their presence and balloon work. The Bouncy Castle was also a huge hit with the young folks (and a great way to burn-off some of their energy), while potato sack races and tug-o-wars drew-in even more participation. The miniature train rides were another treat. Running four concurrent trains all-day, the Model Railroaders took over one-thousand passengers on a 12-minute journey through a tunnel, across bridges, and through an extensive forest wonderland. Adults and children alike were enthralled with their train adventures! The annual Masonic Family Picnic is organized by the Masters & Wardens of District One and supported by all the Masonic Lodges in the jurisdiction. Outside of Grand Lodge Annual Communications, it is the largest gathering of the Masonic community in British Columbia. United Peninsula Lodge No.24 has been a particularly strong supporter of the Annual Picnic. The late-Brother Kip Wilson was instrumental as a liaison with Heritage Acres and this year's organizers did the legacy of Bro Kip proud! Plans are already being made for a 2024 event, which promises to build what is already a successful, fun-filled family day into an even bigger event! Please click on the pictures for a larger image! |
